Accessing the website
When a website is requested, technical connection data must be processed by the web server and hosting infrastructure to deliver the requested files. This can include the IP address, date and time of access, requested file, referrer URL, browser type, operating system, and response status.
These data are used only to deliver the website and to maintain the security and reliability of the server. They are not combined with other data, used to create visitor profiles, or evaluated for analytics. The legal basis, where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the secure and reliable provision of this website. Server log data are deleted when they are no longer required for these purposes, subject to any legal obligation to retain them.
The hosting provider may receive this technical connection data as part of operating the server.
Email contact
The email links on this website open the visitor’s own email application. No information is sent merely by clicking such a link. If you contact me by email, I process the information contained in your message in order to answer your request. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or, where the communication concerns a possible contractual relationship, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Messages are deleted when the matter has been completed and no legal retention requirement applies.
External links
This website links to external services such as publication pages, repositories, ORCID, GitHub, and GitLab. These are ordinary links, not embedded content. No connection to the external service is made until you follow a link. After that, the privacy policy of the external service applies.

Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may request access to your personal data, correction or deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority.
