Commitment
I want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including visitors who use assistive technologies or navigate with a keyboard. Accessibility is an ongoing part of the design and maintenance of the site.
Measures used on this site
The site currently includes the following measures:
- Informative images have meaningful text alternatives.
- Pages use semantic headings, navigation regions, lists, and links.
- Navigation and interactive controls can be operated with a keyboard.
- Text colors are designed to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA minimum contrast ratio.
- Layouts adapt to narrow screens and support browser zoom.
- Motion is reduced when the visitor has enabled the corresponding system preference.
- Mathematical notation is provided as MathML, which preserves its structure for compatible assistive technologies.
- The site does not include autoplaying media or embedded third-party content.
Testing and limitations
I test the site with the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool and review keyboard navigation, responsive layouts, alternative text, document structure, and color contrast. Automated tools can identify only some accessibility barriers, so a successful automated test does not guarantee that every page is fully accessible.
The website is generated with Quarto. Some behavior and markup depend on Quarto and the visitor’s browser. Documents and websites reached through external links are outside my control.
Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility problem, please email contact@simon-praetorius.me. It is helpful if you include the page address, describe the problem, and mention the browser or assistive technology you were using. I will review the issue and try to provide the information in an accessible form.
